  • Spring Day

Today has been a very nice Spring Day.  We spent the morning at the Library.  Savannah has been interested in the nonfiction books.  She wanted to know about the Civil War today because they had a bunch of books set out and a display for the Civil War.  So we got a book and have been reading about it.  When we got home Savannah said she wanted a picnic so we packed the wagon with a blanket and lunch and ate in the park.  It was nice.  A fun activity we have been doing is filling up a bowl with water and taking a paintbrush and painting pictures on the driveway and sidewalk with the water.  She loves it and so does the neighborhood kids.  I just tell them to bring their own paintbrush.  Savannah's tumbling class is over.  So now I am in search of her next class.  It needs to be play interaction with kids.  She does all desk time at home.  She is learning each letter and their sounds.  She gets the point but like today she was trying to spell her name and she got to A and said like egg.  I guess if you didn't know egg could be spelled agg.  It just amazed me that she was trying.  The Potty training is going well.  She never wears a diaper at home except when she goes to bed but she ends of taking it off sometime in the night.  The past two weeks we have ventured out to the grocery store and when I have errands, she has been fine.     I think potty training is more on me being persistent.  She is fine as long as I take the time about every hour to take her.  She might have some accidents some days but no big deal, everything washes.   She does use the little potty chair by herself without even asking for help, which is nice.   She hates the toilets that flush by themselves.  She won't even consider sitting on them.  She says it is an eyeball looking at her and keeps flushing.  Every place we go I think we have to visit the bathroom.  I hate using public restrooms but when she has to go I have no choice.  I don't expect Savannah to take a nap anymore.  She may fall asleep some days if we had a big day or she got up early.  I can get her to bed by 10 if she doesn't take a nap and she can be up till midnight if she does.  I don't care either way...I have always let her be on her own schedule.  Yesterday for Earth Day we planted some plants around the house.  I have so much more to plant.  It just amazes me at what they charge for plants.  I always end up buying from the 75% rack where the plants are almost dead.  I take them home transplant them and with tender loving care they end up beautiful.  Except I am still working on an Orchid.  Which is being very stubborn to bloom.  David has been on a traveling schedule the past four weeks, he usually is only gone 2-3 days out of the week.  Which does not bother me except sometimes I might get frustrated on things never get done around the house unless I do them.  This past week I read the owners manual on his electric drill, I have done research on plumbing.  I just learn to do it myself.  I never want to hire anybody to do it.  I figure I can learn to do anything.  Except I am coming close to having my yard aerated by a professional.  I have put hundreds of dollars of grass seed in my back yard and it is still a mud pit.  I should of done it last Summer.    I have done a couple of sewing projects.  I made a teddy bear and a baby blanket for gifts.  I am also finishing up a teddy bear for Savannah.  I think my next projects will be curtains.  Which will be easy except I have trouble picking out what fabric I want and colors, just too many selections.

  • Dr. Seuss Day

Happy Dr. Seuss Day.  I will be reading Savannah all off her Dr. Seuss books today.  She has quite a bit but loves them all.   The past week I have been extremely busy.  I have watched Benji the Basenji, painted Savannah's room, had inlaws here for three days, and had a shower yesterday for a great friend.  I still didn't get some sewing done I wanted for the shower......Katelyn will forgive me:)  I can just wait for her Birthday!  Last night I sat and watched two hours of TV.  Which is amazing for me.  I guess I was tired.   So today I have started thinking about vacation and packing.  Starting today I am doing and hour cardiovascular workout and a half hour of stretching.   I figure and hour and half dedicated to it should get me in a little better shape.  I did my firtst half hour this morning and boy it shows me how out of shape I am in but that is why I am doing it.  Working out for half an hour intervals, Savannah doesn't get bored with it.  She lifts her legs and arms just like on TV, she is trying.  We also start a tumbling class for Mommys and children this week.

DCAM0156   I had ten onesie's hanging over the table.  We decorated them with fabric markers.

DCAM0157 My favorite slush punch!  Here is the recipe....

DCAM0142   Party favors.  I started them off of a plant I already had about a month ago.  They are also good to use as decorations!

DCAM0143 Baby food jars are good to hold tea lights!  I saved them from Savannah.

DCAM0146   I made a wall hanging/mobile or bow holder for Katelyn also used as decoration.

DCAM0144 Flowers from tissue paper is always fun to make.  I made three different kinds of flowers.

DCAM0151 The cake from the bakery, A Piece of Cake.  It was very good and the price was very affordable.  The time and money it takes me to make a cake, I might as well let them do it!  I will be buying most of my cakes from there.GetAttachment My friend Shelley and me.

I love planning partys.  I can't wait till Savannah's Bday only 6 more months!

    Always be prepared

This snow has really been fun.  As long as it is just snow I am not worried about driving etc.  My 4 wheel drive has been through 25 feet of snow unplowed so I am never worried about getting stuck.  Unlike my parents who have been without electricity for a couple of days now along with the other of 100,000 people in the southern part of the state.  Luckily they are equipped with kerosene heaters, gas grill, battery tv and radio.  They said they are fine even if it is awhile before it comes back on.  My husband parents are in the same boat but no heater and all stores are sold out up to two hours away.  They have no gas grill so I think their situation is a little worse or it seems.  So I have learned that the kerosene heater and other battery powered stuff we have that takes up room in the garage is a must, even if we use it once  it is great to have.  I don't think we think about a disaster happening.  My mom says that luckily they had kerosene because the stores and gas stations all ran out of kerosene so some people have the heaters but can't get the gas.  So I told David to go fill up our kerosene just so we will have.  I am never worried too much because I can go a mile and get to Walmart, drug stores, gas stations but I never think that they only have a limited supply of stuff that everybody needs.  I have been thinking would I be prepared to go without power in this cold weather for awhile?  So I have been making sure I am prepared even though we hardly ever get ice storms etc. you never know what could happen.  This week we have only gotten out once to go to the library.  It is so nice not having anywhere to go.  I just never seem to get cabin fever.  I have been trying to be more relaxed on cleaning my house.  I try not to vacuum everyday but as I sit here I see all the crumbs under the coffee table etc.  I know they aren't going anywhere I am just trying to except them.  Savannah has been doing so well with no diapers during the day.  She hates diapers so it isn't hard.  I have to struggle to put one on her at night and when we leave the house.  I know she can't hold it all night, she drinks way to much before she goes to bed.  When we are out it is hard to get to the bathroom in 6o seconds or so and let me tell you in Kroger she is yelling she has to go poo but I can't find the bathroom.  I hate to say, just go in your diaper, but I just tell her I am looking for the bathroom.  I think sometimes she is so advanced in some areas and other times I think she is behind schedule on things her age.  Like she has never slept in a room by herself and she will never wants to be left alone with a group full of children.  But David is so relaxed and says, "well I love her sleeping with us and cuddling at night because I don't get to see her that much".  So if he likes it I am not worried about that. I figure whatever is easiest for her to go to sleep is fine with me! The nursery at church David stays in there with her.  We do leave but we get paged to come back every time cause she gets hysterical and won't calm down.  She does do fine sitting in church but we feel she needs to get used to her class. She is fine if she stays with our neighbors, friends, and family,  the only difference is the number of kids....?  But eventually she will get used to her church class.  They have lesson time, snack time, playtime, so it is very organized.  David said last time she participated in everything and he was just in the sidelines which before she just wanted to be held.  But this Fall she will be in some preschool class and she will have to adjust. I did sign her up for Tumbling Two program which I think she will have fun.  I was looking up what classes she can do in the Fall and I was like oh my gosh she will be three and we have so many choices and parents don't have to attend. So hopefully she will get used to that fact that I will come back and get her.  Oh my, free time to grocery shop, sewing, what will I do:)  Savannah is sleeping for once during the day:).  The last week or so she had been falling asleep around 6 or 7 at night while I made supper and then she would eat supper and be up till almost midnight. So now she has an early nap she may go to bed around 10, which I like.  Don't worry she gets plenty of sleep she wakes up between 9-10 a.m. on most days.  I just never wanted her to wake up at 6 or 7 in the morning so I made sure her bedtime is later...which works.  Plus David enjoys spending time with her and he doesn't get home till around 8 at night.  Well I am have plenty to do before Savannah wakes up, which should be any minute.
